Imagine having access to your money before most of your co-workers are handed their checks. With direct deposit and your debit card, you have instant access to your money. No more waiting in line at lunch or after work just to deposit your check. It's done automatically. Most payroll deposits are made at midnight the night before payday. This means you may be able to use your debit card on the way to work on payday to buy a cup of coffee or doughnut.And, direct deposit is FREE! Social Security or Supplemental Security Income
Social Security or Supplemental Security Income payment can be sent directly to your account. No more waiting in line. It's safe, quick and convenient.
When you use Direct Deposit, you can rest assured that your money is safe. Since your money goes directly into the credit union in the form of an electronic transfer, there's no risk of a check being lost or stolen. In fact, since 1976 when Direct Deposit first became available to Social Security beneficiaries, not one payment has ever been lost.
It's easy to receive your benefit by Direct Deposit. You can sign up at WGE or you can call Social Security. Then, just relax. Your benefit will go automatically into your account every month. And you'll have more time to do the things you enjoy!
Just think, with Direct Deposit, you no longer have to stand in line to cash your check when it arrives. Your money goes directly into your account. You don't have to leave your house in bad weather or worry if you're on vacation or away from home. Your money is in your account ready to use when business opens the day you receive your check.
If you are already receiving benefits, you can obtain a password and start or change Direct Deposit online. Or call Social Security at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778).
If you already receive Social Security or SSI benefits and you have a WGE account, you can sign up for Direct Deposit by:
- obtaining a password and starting or changing Direct Deposit online (Social Security benefits only), or
- contacting WGE at 765-289-2148, or
- calling Social Security toll-free at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778), or
- filling out a Direct Deposit Sign Up Form and taking or mailing it to your Social Security Office.
